Our Services
At Good Paws, LLC, it is our goal to apply scientifically sound training techniques supported by a range of total care therapies that take into consideration your dog's mind, body and spirit. We strongly believe that no training approach can be effective if your dog is not in a whole, healthy state of being. Our objective is to help you and your dog without causing fear or pain.
Behavior Consultations
From leash reactivity to poor house manners, we can help. We will seek to find the source of your dog's anxiety or mis-manners and apply a individualized blend of modern science with ancient remedies to help your dog find emotional balance so the learning sticks.
Nutrition Consultations
We are happy to provide nutrition consultations and discuss holistic approaches to many of today's pressing canine problems. From basic nutrition to Chinese Food Energetics, we strive to find a solution to help your dog that will fit your lifestyle. We prefer to work in conjunction with your vet's recommendations to assure total and complete care for your dog's mind, body, and spirit.
Group Classes
Our group classes offer training for a range of dogs, from puppies just discovering the world to some of those older dogs who need to have some fun. Not all classes are offered at all times, so please check with us often for schedule updates and curriculum additions.

Private and In-Home Lessons
Private and in-home lessons are available for all levels of training, and can be structured to focus on individual needs. Does your dog react to the doorbell? Your puppy won't stop chewing on the rug? Or maybe you are concerned about fun activities to help your dog lose weight? We are always happy to work one on one for any range of issues...we'll even help you teach your dog a few fun tricks to show off at your next family get together!
Canine Good Citizen Evaluation
The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Program is a great way to show insurance companies, landlords, and family and friends just how friendly your dog is. We can provide preparation training or just evaluations. No previous training is required to take the test, but it is advised that you review the Canine Good Citizen Participant's Handbook to ensure your dog is ready for the test.
If you are a rescue, shelter, or other dog related group, contact us about scheduling a testing date. We can do events or testing dates with proceeds benefiting your group. Contact Shelly for details or to schedule a date.
New Dog Selection Assistance
Many dogs end up in shelters due to a behavioral problem that could have been addressed or because the dog's personality and lifestyle needs did not match those of their owner. We think it is essential to help you choose the right dog in order to build lifelong relationships. That is why we offer consultations on breed and personality selection at no charge. We are happy to speak with you over the phone or in person, and we can even visit the shelter or breeder with you to help choose your next family member.
Referrals
We are always happy to provide referrals to other dog care professionals. We have a list of recommended veterinarians, day cares and boarding kennels, and even other training professionals if we feel your dog's issue is outside the scope of our practice.
